Written throughout the 16th and 17th century by Hutterian Authors such as Peter Riedemann, Wolf Sailer, Caspar Braitmichel, and Felix Manz, the Väterlieder are loaded with significant historical values and doctrine. We can read the Psalms and the Bible, but the beauty of singing scripture and doctrine presents a special and enjoyable way to learn and study; in addition to being the perfect opportunity of praising and glorifying, since God's praise cannot be made great enough.

Hans Hut's favorite which is sung yearly, as a commemoration of Jesus' death.

Hans Raifer provides us with another favorite regarding communal living:

Paul says, Sing and make melody in your heart to the Lord with Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. (Ephesian 5:19) (Col 3:16) For this reason we say that to sing spiritual songs is good and pleasing to God as long as they are sung in the right way, that is, genuinely, in the fear of God, and as prompted by the Spirit of Christ.
