A Field Guide to the Birds of Korea is a guide to the field identification of every bird species that has been recorded in the Korean Peninsula up to November 2000.
There are color illustrations and descriptions of 18 orders, 78 families and 541 species including descriptions and illustrations of all subspecies that can be easily identified in the field.

All of the contents of the printed book is carried over to the electronic edition:

한국의 새 개정증보판 주요변경 사항

1. 추가종 반영
- 추가 : 새롭게 관찰된 종 추가 (96종)
2009년 이후에 확인된 한국미기록종 중에서 학회에 보고되었거나
근거가 명확한 종을 본 도감에 포함
- 분리 : 아종을 별도 종으로 분리(예 : 솔새의 아종 쇠솔새를 별도종으로) 총 4종
- 통합 : 과거 별개종을 동일종으로 통합 (예 : 백할미새를 알락할미새로 통합)
- 삭제 : 기록의 근거부족 등으로 한국조류학회(2009)에서 제외한 5개종(흰수염작은바다오리, 쇠목테갈매기, 흰머리딱새, 흰가슴숲제비) 도감에서 제외

2. 분류학적 변동사항 반영
- 기존 18목 72과 450종에서 18목 78과 541종으로 변경
- 한국조류학회 종목록위원회의 연구결과와 검증결과 반영
- 한글이름은 한국조류학회의 한국조류목록(2009)을,
분류체계를 포함한 영명과 학명은 국제조류학회의 기준(IOC World Bird List version4.1)을 기초로 하여 표기

3. 분포도 수정
- 국내 서식하는 조류의 분류학적 위치와 생태가 밝혀짐에 따라 분포도 수정
- 기존 아종을 별도 종으로 분리하여 해당 종의 분포도 추가
- 기존 도감에는 없었던 길잃은새의 분포도 추가(미국오리, 미국흰죽지 등)

4. 기타 수정내용
- 본문 수정 : 국내 분포 및 번식현황 변화에 따라 종들의 국내 실태 갱신
- 명칭 변경 : 한국조류목록에 따라 기존 명칭 변경 (적원자->붉은양진이 등)
- 페이지 구성 변경 : 새로운 종의 추가에 따라 페이지 별 구성 변경
